Donald "Donny" L. Simpson

Donald “Donny” LeRoy Simpson, 72, of Dayton, Maryland passed away suddenly on December 19th, 2024, at his home.

Donny was born on February 10th, 1952, in Olney, Maryland to Thomas H. Simpson, Sr. and Eula E. (Hobbs) Simpson, and lived in Dayton all his life.

He graduated from Glenelg High School in 1970.  In 1971 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, was promoted to Lance Corporal, and served in the 1st Amphibian Tractor Battalion, Camp Schwab, Okinawa. He was a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 2021 from Hatfield Equipment and Dedication, Inc. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, sightseeing, and traveling out west.

Never married, Donny is survived by his sisters, Judy M. Winkler (Gerry) of Hagerstown, MD and Linda F. Davidson of Lake Frederick, VA, and several nieces and nephews.

Donny was preceded in death by his parents and brother Thomas H. Simpson, Jr. and his brother-in-law C. Edward Davidson.

Family and Friends may visit Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029 on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 10:00 am-12:00 pm where a service will be held at 12:00 pm with interment to immediately follow.
