Donald James Enright of Glenwood, MD died peacefully on Sunday, September 7. He was 86 years old.
Don was a committed family man, and he is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Theresa Louise Enright.
Together, Don and Theresa have raised four children: Kimberly, Wendi, Donald II [Amy], and Thomas [Alice].
They have played a significant role in the lives of all 11 of their grandchildren spread around the country: Shannon [Jeremy], Tara [Josh], Patrick [Ashley], Matthew, Mark [Lindsay], Daniel, Megan, Sean, Grace, Charlotte, and Vivian.
Their joyful family legacy continues with 7 great grandchildren: Cole, Logan, Delia, Keillor, Harper, Evelyn, and Lillian.
Don grew up on a farm in East Grand Forks, Minnesota and was an active member of 4-H. He was proud of his Enright heritage and spoke fondly of an upbringing surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was pre-ceded in death by his parents James and Anna, his sisters Mary Pat and Barbara, and his nephew Jay Ralph.
Don was an active Catholic, a champion of the unborn, and a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He prayed daily for the repose of the souls of those he loved; as those who love him, will now do for Don.
Don graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston and the University of North Dakota, and attended Stanford University.
He was a school teacher and excelled at multiple business endeavors: He was the top national real estate developer with Ben-Franklin Corporation; he successfully owned and operated a service station, Ben-Franklin variety and craft stores, and a commercial real estate agency; and he was the former President of the Chamber of Commerce in Bemidji, Minnesota.
He found God and peace in all forms of nature. Don planted and tended to his trees and called to the birds; and he and Theresa smiled together when deer came to frolic in their backyard.
Don served in the U.S. Army, at a time when the motto was “Be All That You Can Be.”
He lived that way in all aspects of his life. Don was successful, Godly, stalwart, and prudent. His family in particular, and the world in general, are better off due to his time on Earth.
