Diane Patricia Kastner

Diane P. Kastner, 83, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2024.  Diane was born on May 6, 1940 in Baltimore to Louis and Ida Rosenberger.  Diane met her husband Mike in 1957 on a blind date and were married one year later.  They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Diane and Mike own Kastner Plumbing & Heating, Inc. and AVS Plumbing & Heating in West Friendship, MD.  Mike became a member of Maryland Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors Association (MPHCC) in the early 80’s and Diane became a member of the Auxiliary where she spent many hours volunteering her time.  In 1983, she helped launch the MPHCC Apprenticeship Program.  In 1987, she became a full-time employee as Executive Director of the MPHCC where she dedicated her time and energy to promote the benefits of working in the trades and improving the image and professionalism of the industry.

Diane was the MPHCC Woman of the Year in 1987, she won the Association Executive’s Council Spectrum Award for exemplary leadership, was the Senior Editor of the award winning MDPHCC Contractors Magazine and worked tirelessly as the MPHCC Apprenticeship Training Director.  She loved working with young people just getting started in the trades and encouraged them to complete their education and obtain their license to help secure their future in the industry.  “Diane dedicated her time to protect the Association and our industry.  We are forever grateful.”

Diane is survived by her loving husband, Mike; sons Mike III, Gary, Craig and daughter Kathy Stradley and their spouses; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother Richard and his wife Judy.

She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Ida Rosenberger, and sister, Carol Follin.

Diane was a special woman with a wealth of knowledge and a great sense of humor.  She was the true matriarch of our family; she took care of all of us.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 18th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.

Funeral Mass will be Monday, February 19th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.

Interment will be at a later date.
