Darlene Ann Sweeney,  74

Our beloved sister and friend Darlene Ann Sweeny passed away peaceably on August 13, 2025, at the Harmony Hall Assisted Living Facility in Columbia, Maryland with family and friends present.  She had dementia but it was the impact of recent serious illnesses that led to her passing.  But up to the end her inquisitive eyes would make you smile when they fixed on you.

She was born on January 23, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland to George Fewster, a tool and die makert at ARMCO Stainless Steel, and Blanche Fewster a homemaker to their five children.

She graduated with honors from Patapsco Senior High School in 1969 and went to work for the National Security Agency at Fort Meade.  She retired in 2006 after a successful 37-year career, ending as the executive secretary to the Deputy Director.  After retirement she bought a condominium in Columbia, Maryland.  She enjoyed traveling, meetings with her former coworkers, and visiting with her extended family throughout the area.  With four brothers and sisters she had plenty of nieces and nephews to spoil.

Darlene was predeceased by her older sister, Margaret Vogelsang, and older brother, George Fewster Jr.  She is survived by her twin sister, Dorothy Sanborn and her husband Don, along with her younger brother, Glenn Fewster and his wife Desiree.

Her marriages to John Borotka and Michael Sweeney ended in divorce.  She had no children.

Services for Darlene will take place at noon on August 21, 2025 at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, Maryland. Visitation will start at 10:00am.  Interment will follow at the St Louis Catholic Cemetery.
