Cristina Maria Farley, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend passed away on Sunday January 23, 2022. She was 73 years old.
She was born to Franco Schiavo and Cecilia Marinucci in Sulmona, Italy on November 5, 1948. She immigrated to the U.S. when she was six. She attended Elizabeth Seton High School and lived in Maryland for the entirety of her life. She was married for over 50 years to the love of her life, Ronald Farley, who passed away in February 2021. She is survived by her three adoring children: Lisa (Eric), Michele (Tom), and Michael (Melissa), her loving mother Cecilia, and her two wonderful brothers Mario and Dennis (Monika and son Michael) Schiavo. She is also survived by her nine magnificent grandchildren; Luke, Sophia, Grace, Nicholas, Olivia, Jack, Juliana, Ellia and Luca; as well as a large extended family.
Cristina had a zest for life that was contagious. She laughed often, smiled easily and loved deeply. She devoted her life to her family, cherished time with her friends and doted on her grandchildren. The twinkle in her eye was especially bright when she was with them - it was magical to witness the joy they brought her.
Cristina had countless friends and had a social life that rivaled her children. Throughout her life, she was often on her way to a girls' night, a tennis match, book club, a PTA meeting, soccer carpool, church, or a visit with her family. Like a true Italian, she was an incredible cook and baker, and welcomed any opportunity to host family dinners and parties.
In culinary terms, if Cristina were a recipe, the main ingredients would be a cup of sugar and a dash of spice. Her kindness and warmth were unmatched, peppered with a fierce and vivacious spirit.
A devout Catholic, Cristina believed deeply in the promise of eternal life. She lived her life the way Jesus asks, with love and devotion to God and all those around her. Her family is comforted knowing that she is singing her heart out with the angels in Heaven.
The family kindly asks that attendees follow Maryland mask mandates at the Visitation and at the Church service. In order to protect immunocompromised members of our family, KN95 masks will be provided for those that need one.
We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our Tribute Wall.
