Charles William Schoppet

Charles William Schoppet, age 86, passed away in Columbia, Maryland on August 6, 2025.

He was born on December 1, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania son of George and Gertrude (nee DeSoi) Schoppet.

He moved to Maryland in 1963 and worked as an electronic technician for the Federal Government at NASA and the Naval Research Laboratory for over 40 years until he retired in 2006.

Charles was a long-time member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Landover Hills, MD where he served as an usher. He later became a member of St. Louis Church in Clarksville MD.

Since he was little, he was interested in model trains and at Christmas time would have a setup around the Christmas Tree. In his later years he listened to mysteries and history including Roman Empire and Civil War and played chess and backgammon.

Charles was predeceased by his parents and his wife Jeanette Schoppet (nee Schufreider) of 64 years. He is survived by his children: Charles Schoppet Jr and wife Marilyn, Mark Schoppet and wife Roxie, Christopher Schoppet and wife Rhonda Moore and Theresa Graham and husband Brian; his brother George Schoppet; his grandchildren: Stephanie Schoppet, Rebecca Schoppet, Melissa Schoppet, Cecelia Graham and Anthony Graham; his sisters-in-law: Ann Fiedler (children Ann Turner, Denise Corsiglia and Albert Fiedler) and Elizabeth Belfer (husband Warren).

A funeral Mass will be held at 12:00PM on September 5, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi, 8300 Old Columbia Rd, Fulton, MD 20759. Interment following mass at Saint Louis Cemetery, 5950 Ten Oaks Rd, Clarksville, MD 21029.
