Carolyn Schwartz Mclellan

Carolyn Schwartz McLellan of Columbia, MD passed away on February 17, 2024, at the age of 62 after a long illness. Born on February 27, 1961, to Paul L. and Marie L. Schwartz, Carolyn grew up in New Carrollton, MD and graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree. She worked for various Federal Government agencies in Washington D.C. before deciding to resign so she could focus her love and attention to raising her two sons. After her sons were older, Carolyn returned to work at Motorola Solutions, Inc., eventually becoming a Contracts Specialist.

Carolyn is survived by John D. McLellan III, her loving husband of 37 years, their children Doug and Andrew (Shelby) and granddaughter Charlotte, her brothers Robert (Sue) and Joe (Tammie), her Aunt Mary Ann (Norm), cousins Mike (Shonia) and Karen (Glenn), and sisters-in-law Linda (Cliff), Beverly (Dave), and Judy (Craig).  In addition, they have 11 nieces and nephews, and 10 great nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was a devoted parishioner of St Louis Catholic Church, with her faith evident in the way she raised her children, lived her life and helped others. Family was especially important to Carolyn, often hosting family gatherings and making sure everyone was included, had an enjoyable time and had plenty to eat. Christmas was her favorite holiday, spreading decorations throughout the house. For Christmas, she always made multiple batches of over eight types of cookies to make sure that family, friends and coworkers all had their favorite to enjoy. She also liked to tend to her ever-expanding gardens and relaxing on the beach with family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029 on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 at St. Louis Catholic Church at 10:00 am with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Susan G. Komen or the National Breast Cancer Foundation .
