Brenda Marie Blitz

Brenda Marie (Souder) Blitz, a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at her home in Laurel, Maryland. Born on July 1, 1943, Brenda’s life was one marked by compassion, humor, and an unwavering love for those around her.

A proud graduate of Bowie State University, Brenda dedicated her career to shaping young minds as a kindergarten teacher for Glenelg Country School. Her quick wit and loving nature brought warmth to every classroom she entered, leaving an indelible mark on students, parents, and colleagues alike.

Brenda was a dedicated member of the Laurel Historical Society, the Laurel Garden Club, and the Rotary Club of Laurel, where she formed many lifelong friendships.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Jeffrey Blitz, and her daughters, Rebecca Blitz and Janice Blitz. Brenda’s heart was fullest when surrounded by her two granddaughters, Gabriella Coco and Payton Albers, whom she adored beyond measure. Her family circle also includes her sister, Roberta Shaffer (Doug), nephew, Steven Fultz (Stacy), and nieces Stephanie Shaffer and Genevieve Shaffer-Zorb (Danny).

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Robert and Vestie Souder.

Brenda’s compassionate soul and warm laughter will be deeply missed but remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the seeds she planted – in gardens, classrooms, family ties, and community bonds – each a testament to a life lovingly lived.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.
