Annette Russell Favorite

Annette Favorite passed away on July 11, 2026 in Marriottsville, Maryland. Annette was born in Paduka, Texas and grew up with two older sisters, Carolyn and Jane, an older brother, John Carroll, and a younger sister LaNelle. Her mother was a teacher and her father was a Baptist minister.

After graduating from Yoe High School in 1961 in Cameron, Texas, she married Grover McCullin and had two children: Sherrilyn and Russell. Over the next few years while, raising her two children, she returned to college and earned a BA in Education and ultimately a master’s degree. She became a successful and popular middle school teacher. She met Ralph in graduate school and they married June 12, 1977, thus blending Sherrilyn and Russell with Ralph’s two children, Wendy and Jeff.

She took her education skills to the Panama Canal Zone, immediately being hired by the Canal Zone Authority as a middle school teacher. She continued finding interesting jobs as the Army frequently moved Ralph from assignment to assignment. They eventually settled in Maryland; Ft. Meade was Ralph’s last assignment prior to retirement.

Annette and Ralph founded a successful company training disabled adults to use computers allowing them to be competitive with their non-disabled peers. She applied her educational background and skills to writing training material and teaching the blind adults to successfully use computer software. Her reputation was such that supervisors throughout the Social Security Administration would specifically request her when they had a difficult employee.

Annette and her husband Ralph (of 50 years) raised a blended family consisting of Sherrilyn (Dwight), Russell (Karen), Wendy (Chuck), Jeff (Kandice), and our bonus daughter Amy (Rhett). She and Ralph are the proud grandparents of Katie, Tyler, Anthony, Abigail, Vince, Sydney, and Luke. And prouder great-grandparents of Rudee, Grace, Maria, and Lowen.

Annette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by the many people who loved her.

The graveside service will be held at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2150 Mount View Road, Marriottsville, Maryland 21104 on Friday July 31st, 2026 at 11:00am.
