On December 28, 2021 beloved husband, father and brother, Angelo F. Gravagna, passed away suddenly yet peacefully in bed at home surrounded by loved ones. He was 87 years old.
Angelo was born September 25,1934 to Fred and Mary in the city of Montclair, NJ.
As a young man, Angelo enlisted in the US Navy, eventually retiring as a Commander. He piloted jet fighters from aircraft carriers. Angelo and Honey met in 1960. Angelo continued to fly in the Navy Reserves while obtaining a Masters degree in Computer Science prior to the personal computer revolution.
While Angelo’s true love was flying, he was also passionate about fixing things, drove the hook and ladder truck for a volunteer fire department, and was an avid BMW motorcycle rider. A founding member of BMWRA, he was president from 1978-1980 and subsequent trustee. Angelo rode all over the states, including up to Alaska, and kept riding into his 80’s. Angelo retired from Applied Physics Laboratory in 1996 after 30 years in the computer field. When he retired, Angelo and Honey had time to RV around the US.
Angelo is survived by wife, Honey, son, Fred, daughter, Noelle, and sister, Connie. He was preceded in death by sisters, Jennie and Mary.
Angelo will be interred with full honors where a Catholic service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 25th 2023 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity. Angelo enjoyed giving to several patriotic charities.
