John William Garrison

John William Garrison of Woodstock, Maryland passed away on 6/30/2024. John is survived by his loving family; His wife of 55 years, Mary; sons Danny and Joey, daughter in law Kim, and five grandchildren Jack, Grant, Mackenzie, Dean, and Connor.

John was born in Washington, D.C. on August 5, 1946, to John and Virginia Garrison. He graduated from Bladensburg High School where he played football and went on to play at Frostburg State University. He finished his studies and graduated from Benjamin Franklin School of Accountancy (now George Washington University).

John was well known and respected in the Howard County Community where he was a CPA for over 30 years. He was very involved in the community including serving many years on the Board of Trustees for Howard County General Hospital (now Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center), serving as President of the Columbia Town Center Rotary Club, coaching and serving as Trustee for the Columbia Bulldogs youth football program, and serving as President of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA).

In his free time, John enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time on the Florida coast. Family was everything to John, especially watching his grandkids compete in their athletics. Coaches would often comment that he was the team’s biggest fan!

John lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication. He was a pillar of strength and wisdom, always offering a helping hand and a warm smile to those around him. His legacy is one of compassion, integrity, and unwavering support for his family and friends.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at Turf Valley on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
