Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Margaret Joan Rogers of Columbia, MD, passed away surrounded by her family, on February 22, 2019, after a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, the Honorable Judge Harold Rogers; and her son, Jeffrey Rogers. She is survived by her sister, Florence Lashick of Bowie, MD and her brother, Richard Lesak (Regina) of Seaford, DE.; her four daughters; Karen Rogers of Montrose, PA.; Pamela Stanitski (Frank) of Elkridge, MD.; Patricia Rogers of Oregon City, OR.; Ann Finneran (Paul) of Columbia, MD.; her four grandchildren; Olivia and Julia Stanitski, Bailey and Keira Finneran; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved and held dear.
Margaret was raised in Simpson, PA., the daughter of Mary and John Lesak. She was a graduate of Fell Township High School, and furthered her education at Scranton Lackawanna Business College. During her career, she worked for several federal government agencies in Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre, PA. and Washington, D.C., retiring from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, MD.
Margaret and Harold married in 1948 and moved from Pennsylvania to Maryland, spending the majority of their years together in New Carrollton and then Bowie. Margaret loved being with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, spending weekends and summers at the family farm, cooking for her family, and being active in her Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She treasured her family and all of the friendships she made over the years.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD. 21029 on Sunday, March 3rd, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Flowers are welcome. Tribute gifts may also be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Louis Catholic Parish, Clarksville at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4th. Interment to follow later at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Clinton, MD.
