John Hardy Law

On September 25, 2018, John Law, 75, died peacefully in his sleep. He, and his twin brother George were born on January 5, 1943, to George Edward Law and Mildred Rosemond Stith. He spent his early years in Ferndale, MD where he played catcher on numerous baseball teams. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1962, where he was member of the state basketball championship team in his senior year. Following high school, he attended Western Maryland College, where he joined Gamma Beta Chi. Graduating with a BS degree in 1965, he became a floor worker for the Hecht Company. While at WMC, he met and pinned Barbara Ann Smith, whom he married in 1966. John had a long career in sales. He worked with his brother at Law Brothers hardware store. He was then employed as a sales manager at J.B. Kendall in Washington D.C. specializing in metal products. When J.B. Kendall closed, he moved on to Durrett Sheppard where he was both an inside and outside salesman. Retiring in 2002, he enjoyed turning to his first love, gardening. He became a Master Gardener, built a green house and filled the house with his plants. He was extremely proud of the house he built in Howard County with his own hands. He resided in that house until his demise.

He is survived by his Wife of 52 years, Barbara (nee Smith), daughter Jessica Williams and grandchildren, Logan and Rachel Williams. He is also survived by his brother George and sister Cathy. A Memorial service will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville MD on Friday, September 28 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Red Cross.
