David "Bruce" Pickens

David “Bruce” Pickens, 63, of Columbia, MD lost a 9 year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on June 20, 2019. Bruce was born at Holloman Air Force Base, NM to William G. Pickens and Emalee Guildner.  He joins his father and two brothers (Donald and Randall) in heaven.

In 1978 Bruce joined the US Air Force. In 1989 he joined the Arizona National Guard. He received a BS in 1992 from the University of Phoenix, and an MS in 1995 from Western International University. He achieved Six Sigma specialist qualification in 2006 and also became a proud member of the American Society for Quality.  As an information systems professional he spent much of his career working on federal government defense projects.

Bruce retired at the young age of 57. He became an active member of the Howard County Cycle 2 Health bicycling club. He enjoyed outdoor activities including skiing, camping, mud runs, and hiking.  He enjoyed overseas travels to China, Amsterdam, Dubai, and Malaysia.  He enjoyed traveling to his old home state of Arizona to visit relatives. 

Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Chloe, his children, Joshua, Serena Coons (Dan), and Sunny Worth (Cory), his mother, Emalee Guildner, and brothers John (Suging) and Gary.  

Relatives and friends may visit the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029 on Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM where a Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 PM with a reception to follow. Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
