Carl “Corky” Thompson passed away on August 4th 2018. Corky was born June 27, 1928 in Clarendon Virginia to George and Katherine Thompson. He grew up in Washington, DC where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, the late Sally Picker. Corky served in the Marine Corps, and after the Korean War came home and started Cheerio Printing Inc. He is father to Jennifer Thompson, Cynthia Mahoney and the late Gregory Thompson. He is Grandfather to Alexandra, Samantha, Elizabeth, Sarah, Patrick, Michael, and Colin. He was always a lover of animals. Corky was a true craftsman and mastered any trade he put his mind to, and there were many. He designed and built four houses including a log cabin in West Virginia, his retirement estate in Dayton, and he restored a farmhouse on his beloved West Virginia property. His hobbies were as diverse as his skills: camping, hunting, fishing, boating, cooking, shooting, entertaining and anything that involved his family. Corky was blessed with 90 healthy and active years and will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends may call at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville MD 21029 on Tuesday, August 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 8, at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In addition to flowers memorial contributions can be made to Gilchrist Hospice.
