Shirley Marie Frantz was born in rural Pennsylvania on April 17, 1937 and passed away peacefully at her home near Laurel, Maryland on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the age of 85.
Shirley was happily married to her husband and soulmate, Jack, for more than 55 years. Together they raised 2 sons, Mark and Brian who loved her very much. She is survived by Jack, Brian, Mark, her daughter-in-law Megan, and three grandchildren, Landon, Cayden and Graycen.
Shirley is remembered as a wonderful and loving daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved good soft serve ice cream and made the best meatballs and especially Jello cakes! Shirley had an infectious laugh and beautiful smile. She loved planting and caring for flowers and her altruistic nature led her to volunteer with hospitals, schools, swim teams, Cub Scouts, special needs children and many other organizations.
Shirley knew what she wanted in life and strove to achieve it. Her favorite poem was "It Couldn't Be Done" by Edgar A. Guest, and it was an inspiration throughout her life and carries on through her family, who still recite it to this day.
A Viewing and Funeral Service in her honor will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. (12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD) from 1:30PM to 3:00PM. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 PM.
We would respectfully ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association. Thank you.
