Martha Lorraine Sommer

Martha died peacefully at home on March 17, 2024, surrounded by members of her loving family, and in the thoughts of those who could not be with her.

She was born on April 3, 1928, in Savage, Maryland.

Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Herbert John Sommer as well as her daugher-in-law, Louise Sommer.

She is survived by her devoted son, Richard Sommer of Milton, Delaware, and her loving grandson, Michael Sommer (Keri) of Westport, Connecticut.

Martha worked for a total of 58 years with National Plastics, which became Nevermar, which then became Exxon and finally International Paper. She also enjoyed working with the Missionnettes of Potomac Valley Assembly of God Church in Germantown, Maryland.

Martha was an accomplished cook and baker. She was known for the many cakes she baked for her co-workers, and she enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Martha will be lovingly remembered by many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 26, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike Clarksville, Maryland 21029 with a Funeral Service starting at 11:30 AM and interment following funeral service at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd. Elkridge, Maryland 21075.
