Janet Marie Furman, 82, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at her daughter's home. She was born March 28, 1938, in Highland Md., to the late Grace and Roland Disney.
Janet was married for 47 years to her beloved husband the late Matthew Furman.
After graduating from Washington College with a Bachelors degree, she was employed in Baltimore City as a social worker. She then moved back to her hometown, Highland and became a homemaker raising her children. She was a member of the ladies Auxiliary fifth district volunteer fire department in Clarksville.
Janet was blessed with two daughters, Laura and Lisa, sons-in-law, Ian and Dan, and her precious grandchildren Josh, Mara, Sophie, Eli, Anna, and Wyatt. She has two sisters, Millie and Charlotte, and numerous nieces and nephews that hold special places in her heart. She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
Janet loved living in her hometown of Highland with family close by, a special neighbor and friend, and being able to walk to her place of employment for 20 years at a natural pharmacy.
She also loved all of God's creations with a special fondness for bluebirds and the tall trees that surrounded her home.
In Janet's final years and as her disease progressed, she received help and care from many people. In her final months, she was comforted by her family and received exceptional care from caregivers including those from Assisting Hands Home Care and Frederick Health Hospice. She was blessed with a special caregiver, Chelsea. Those desiring may make contributions in memory of Janet to Frederick Health Hospice.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 26, 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 3800 Ridge Road (Md. Rte. 27) Westminster, Maryland 21157. Interment Private.
