Herbert John Sommer

Herbert John Sommer of Milton, Delaware passed away in a peaceful sleep on July 17, 2021, at the age of 94.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha Lorraine Sommer, his son Richard Wayne Sommer, and took much pride in his grandson Michael Wayne Sommer and wife Keri Ann Sommer. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Philomena Sommer of Davidsonville, Maryland, as well as his daughter-in-law Louisa Marie Sommer. Herbert was one of seven children and all are deceased except his youngest sister, Helene (Susie) King Whittington. He was employed as manager for 40 years with  International Paper in Odenton, Maryland.  After retirement he enjoyed working as a school bus assistant for 12 years with special needs children. His interests were hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles.  He also enjoyed many gatherings with family and numerous friends.

Relatives and friends may visit the Donaldson Funeral Home in Clarksville, 12540 Clarksville Pike (Route 108), Clarksville, Maryland 21029 on Tuesday, July 27  from 10:00am to 11:00am where a service will be held at 11:00am. Interment at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
