William Hubert Poe

     William Hubert Poe, 78, died at home on April 7, 2018, following a brief battle with cancer.  Hubert was born in Olney, MD, the son of Charles and Margaret Poe. He grew up in Scaggsville, MD and was an avid sportsman. He especially like hunting and loved baseball, a sport he played until age 60.  Hubert’s tradecraft was a HVAC contractor. He was employed for over 40 years at H&C Laurel, MD, retiring at age 74.

 Hubert married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Lou Boyer, in September 1961 and they made their home in Columbia, MD. While raising their two children, they enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sisters Catherine and Myrtle, daughter Donna McKenzie and husband James, son William (Billy) Poe and wife Amiee, grandchildren Katlin, Greg, Jessica, Eddie, Amanda, Jacob, Cody and Casey, numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sister in-laws, cousins and friends.  He is preceded by his parents, brothers Philip, Charles Jr., Merle, and Herman as well as sisters Goldie, Gladys, Mildred and Nancy.Hubert was a devoted family man who instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of family and friends, the value of a strong work ethic and the zest to have fun.

Relatives and friends may call at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD on Thursday April 12, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM where service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM.
