Roslyn Arlene Strank “Roz”, age 82, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018. She was born in Brownstown, PA on April 22, 1935 to Michael and Anna Sevenack of Conemaugh, PA. Roz grew up in Conemaugh where she met and married Anthony “Pete” Strank of Franklin Borough, PA. Together they enjoyed 59 years of marriage before he passed away on June 1, 2014. She was a longtime resident of Howard County, living in Hammond Village for over 55 years. Recently, she resided at Encore Senior Living at Turf Valley in Ellicott City. Roz is survived by daughter Christina Layman and her husband Carl of Mt. Airy, Md. and son Jeffrey Strank and his wife Michele of Glenwood, Md; her 9 grandchildren Justin and wife Jessica, Kevin and wife Carrie, Tyler, Carson, Randall, Anthony, and Marissa along with 4 great-grandchildren, Allison, Jaden, Allison and Kyle. She is also survived by her brother David Sevenack and his wife Elizabeth of Hershey, PA and sister-in-law Cecile of Pinellas Park, FL. She is predeceased by her brother Robert Sevenack of Pinellas Park, FL.
Roz created a loving and nurturing home for her family. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher who loved to spoil her kids and grandkids with delicious home cooked meals and desserts. Her recipes for tasty treats were coveted by many. Roz loved to gather her family together for New Year’s, Easter, and Thanksgiving Day dinners at her home. She also gathered family together to celebrate birthdays by making special dinners and desserts. Her banana crème pie was a family favorite. She was also talented at crocheting, making many afghans for family. She had great friends in her neighborhood and church communities. Roz was an active member of St. Gregory of Nyssa Byzantine Catholic Church in Beltsville, Md. devoting her time and talents to support fund raising. Her kind, compassionate, gentle, and loving spirit touched all that met her.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy will be offered on Tuesday, April 3, 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory of Nyssa Byzantine Catholic Church, 12420 Old Gunpowder Spur, Beltsville, MD. 20705. A graveside committal service will be Wednesday, April 4, 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church Cemetery, 2142 William Penn Avenue,(adjacent Summit Chapel) Johnstown, PA. 15909
