On November 9th, 2019, Jay Paul Forsbacka, of Westminster, MD passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 45.
Jay was born on January 7th in 1974 to his Mother Ilene Forsbacka and Father Allen Forsbacka, in Washington, DC. He graduated from Capital Technology University and he was a Lead System Test Engineer for the Aerospace and Defense Industry at Goddard Space Flight Center. Jay is survived by fiance, Kasey Farley, and her children Hannah, Kyra, and Alyssa; his beloved dog, Lumi; mother, Ilene Forsbacka; brother, Glen Forsbacka; sister, Jennifer Forsbacka and her two children, Chery and Reno; sister, Jill Odachowski and her husband, Jonathan Odachowski and their 2 children Mason and Jackson. Jay was preceded in death by his father, Allen Forsbacka.
Jay had a passion for life and exploration. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved target shooting with his friends and felt most at home in the woods. He loved rock climbing, hiking and backpacking. Jay had a particular love for the winter, spending as much time in the snow-covered peaks as he could; ice climbing, skiing and climbing the tallest mountains he could find. Jay was also a skilled artist, woodworker and could solve just about any problem he faced. He loved his family and friends profoundly, and included them in all of his life's adventures.
The visitation will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029 on Wednesday, November 13th, 2019 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, where a funeral service will be held on, Thursday, November 14th, 2019, at 11:00 am. Jay was a believer in protecting America's climbing access. In lieu on flowers, please make memorial donations may be made to The Access Fund (www.accessfund.org).
