Grace Ok-Jung (Hahn) Yi

Grace Ok-Jung Yi (nie Hahn) died suddenly in her home on March 27, 2018 in Fulton, MD at the age of 85.  Grace is survived by a daughter, Dianne McDermott of Highland, MD, two sisters, Won-ju Hahn, M.D. of Seoul, Korea, Nam-ju Hahn of Sidney, Australia, 12 nieces and nephews in the  U.S., South Korea, and Australia.  Grace was born on November 21, 1932 in Mah-San, South Korea to Kyu-Sang Hahn, M.D. and Duk-Shil Park.  She was the 5th of their 6 daughters. She graduated from Mah-San Women’s High School and So-Ra-Bol Arts College in Seoul, Korea. She married Major Se-Joo Lee, an officer in the South Korean Army in 1955 in Dae-gu South Korean. After her husband passed away in 1965, she began working in the women’s fashion industry as a designer for number of years and later owned and operated her own fashion boutique store, designing and making original dresses.  She remarried in 1970 to Rev. Eun-Taik Yi, a Methodist Minister from Chicago, IL.  She and Rev. Yi moved to Monrovia, California in 1971.  Rev. Yi passed away in 1988 and she moved to Maryland in 1989 to live close to her daughter Dianne and son-in-law Martin (Ken) McDermott.  Grace loved to sew and read her bible, and enjoyed nature walks.  She comes from a devout Christian parents and had a strong faith in God. She is in heaven in his loving arms now. We’ll miss her terribly, but we’ll treasure the time she spent with us and so many wonderful memories.

A Memorial Service will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville P.A. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11 a.m.
